Loves a bright spot or full sun. Water about once a week, keeping the soil lightly moist; drought-tolerant once established.
Leaf drop often follows a sudden change in light or watering; yellowing can mean overwatering or a feeding gap; fruit needs plenty of direct light.
Usually grown from grafted stock or semi-hardwood cuttings rather than from seed.
Prune lightly in late winter to shape the plant and remove dead or crossing branches; avoid heavy cuts while it is fruiting.
Feed monthly through spring and summer with a fertilizer suited to fruiting plants.
Repot every 2–3 years in spring; top-dress with fresh soil in the years between.
Protect from frost in winter — move potted plants to the brightest indoor spot if temperatures drop near freezing.
