Give it bright light and water only when the soil is completely dry. Overwatering is its only real enemy.
Soft, mushy leaves mean overwatering; shrivelled leaves mean it is thirsty; stretched, pale growth means too little light.
Propagates from leaf or offset cuttings left to callus for a day, then set on dry soil.
Remove shrivelled lower leaves and spent flower stalks. Leggy stems can be beheaded and re-rooted to keep the plant compact.
Feed lightly once or twice in spring and summer with a diluted cactus feed; none in winter.
Repot every 2–3 years in fresh, free-draining cactus mix.
Give a cool, dry winter rest with minimal water; increase light and watering again as growth restarts in spring.
